Abby and Paul take the care and development of Michael fairly loosely but not without dedication. They believe Michael's progress in movement and ability to move around are because they never 'babied' him and also because he has mimicked plenty of things from Gabby, his younger sister.

There is a double deck bed where Michael has the lower mattress and PJ the upper. Michael can crawl from and climb onto his bed.  Michael has a routine of waking up at around 6am, by when either Paul or Abby must attend to him until the babysitter arrives before they leave to work.

Michael loves the feel of running water, and apparently also the sound of it. Like many other children with Cerebral Palsy, being in the water is one thing that is always welcomed with a smile and in a good mood.
